RS232 Mini Tester DB25 Test All Signals Older Model (UD1)
This unit which I have had from the 2000's   works with all
original signals even +/- 15 volt not just he 5 volt systems (Newer)
Led's for
TD      -  Transmit Data
RTS    -  Ready to Send
DSR    - Data Set Ready
CD    -   Carrier Detect
RD    - Receive Data
CTS    - Clear To Send
DTR    - Data Terminal Ready
Not all LED'S will show depending on your system as some just use 3 wires
and this is old school stuff Like Hayes and US Robotics External modems
I would recommend a RS232 Break out Box if you are doing this work
